W0RIC - Rick

W0RIC "WHISKY ZERO RADIO IS COOL"

The main rig is the Yaesu FT-1000D. I have a 2nd FT-1000D as a back-up. I upgraded both radios with the Inrad Roofing Filter Mod and installed the Inrad 2.8kHz filters. Also adjusted was the Transmit Carrier Point to take full advantage of the wider InRad crystal filters and capacitor changes. The back-up rig is a Kenwood TS-690S that is mainly used for 6 Meters. The Amplifier is an Alpha 87A. The back-up amp is a Kenwood TL-922A.

3CX800's

On the rooftop tower I have an old Hy-Gain LJ-204BA for 20 meters up 40 feet (click picture on the left for a larger view). I also have a Cushcraft Boomer with 6 Elements on a 34-foot boom for 6 meter operations.

For 40 and 80 meters, 2 - phased ground mounted 55' vertical's from Zero-Five Antenna. The S.W. vertical has 5,000 feet (1524 meters) of ground radials. The N.E. vertical has 1500 feet of ground radials due to space limitations.

The Microphone is a Heil PR-40. The Heil PR 40 represents a completely new dynamic microphone technology designed by Bob Heil, K9EID for a wide range of professional applications such as sophisticated recording, live sound, and commercial broadcast. It maintains the 25 year Heil Sound tradition of superbly natural voice articulation.

I also have the EQplus by W2IHY to enhance my audio and clean up the quality of the signal.

Logging software used is Ham Radio Deluxe. All QSO's are uploaded to eQSL. Manual back-up and uploads to Logbook of The World are done on a regular basis. Online log now available on this site!
